Bio of the Bionic Woman

I started singing in close harmony groups and choirs. When I was 16 years old, I recorded my first original song Party Goin' On at Xplosive Records, London. Since then I have co-written a song (with IAM Records) that was used to promote the IMDB Feature Film C.O.O.L.I.O and another track (with producer Julian Alexander) that was used in the House of Sunny runway show at London Fashion Week.

I received regular airplay on OnFM Radio, Redflux Radio and Shoreditch Radio. I have performed in many clubs, theatres and other venues, including DSTRKT (Piccadilly, London) where I hosted my own event and performed a variety of soul and blues music. I have also sung to the Ugandan Minister in the House of Lords and performed in three West End Showcases.

When I was 17, I sung lead for BBC Organist Michael Wooldridge and his band. Since then I have worked occasionally with my own session band and also sung with David Silk and his Jazznights band. I would love to continue performing with live bands, especially jazz and funk bands as these are the most fun, but most of all I want to be an established pop-soul, recording artist.

I love creating music as well as performing it. I listen to a lot of Etta James, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Earth Wind and Fire, Motown and Jamiroquai. Luther Vandross, George Michael and Mariah Carey inspire me vocally. I would like to cross-over into Gospel music too; people like Kirk Franklin, R Kelly and Mary J Blige really get under my skin in a good way. At the moment I'm watching Paloma Faith, Bruno Mars and Sam Smith. They have so much soul.

My songs are positive and funky. They come from having to pick myself up and move on in life. I also write about people I love. I graduated from Hertfordshire Theatre School with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Acting and Musical Theatre, a LAMDA Verse and Prose Gold Medal Award (DISTINCTION) and was awarded HTS Most Promising Student of the Year 2009. I have a BA Hons. Performing Arts Degree (2:1) from the University of Chichester and a BTEC National Diploma in Dance (DISTINCTION x2, MERIT x1).
